History of 3Arena
The 3Arena is a modern and spacious entertainment venue that hosts various live events, such as concerts, comedy and arts shows. It is located at North Wall Quay in the Dublin Docklands, a former industrial area that has been transformed into a vibrant urban district. The 3Arena was opened in 2008 as The O2, after the telecommunication brand that sponsored it. It was built on the site of the previous Point Theatre, a smaller music venue that operated from 1988 to 2007. The 3Arena retained some of the outer facade of the Point Theatre, but expanded its capacity and improved its acoustics and design. In 2014, the venue was renamed as the 3Arena, due to the takeover of O2 Ireland by Three Ireland.
